Kick off your Refract weekend with a day that’s equal parts creative, cultural, and celebratory. Take advantage of Seattle’s walkable city, with hands-on classes, nearby galleries, and an evening under the glow of Chihuly’s masterpieces. Check out the itinerary below.
Stop 1: Make Art
Start your Refract adventure with a hands-on glassmaking activity at the family-owned Seattle Glassblowing Studio which is celebrating 35 years in business. Work with professional artists who will help you create your own autumnally inspired memento. Hands-on in the Hot Shop: Autumn

Stop 2: View Art
After making your own art and with a new appreciation for the craft behind the art, visit Design Within Reach and explore both iconic & modern glass through the world of design; names such as Glas Italia, Helle Mardahl, Louis Poulsen, MESO, Sophie Lou Jacobsen, Tom Dixon, and more. 10am-6pm, Free
Stop 3: Recharge
Make your way to the famous Pike Place Market and choose from a cornucopia of delicious food offerings to recharge your Refract batteries. As you wander through the market, look out for the glass art vendors throughout the Market. Come back on Saturday, October 17th for the Artistry in Glass Showcase. The MarketFront Pavilion will serve as the hub of this special event, providing a unique and intimate setting for you to observe the glass artists in action and browse their displays of handmade glass. Stop 4: Party
Time to dress up and party at GATHER at the Chihuly Garden and Glass! Join us for the official opening night for REFRACT, celebrating the amazing milestones in the Glass Community. 50 years of PRATT Fine Art School, 35 Years of Seattle Glassblowing Studio, and 30th Anniversary of Chihuly over Venice.. Ignite your curiosity with glassblowing demonstrations from amazing glass artists, VIP tours of Chihuly Garden and Glass, music, hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktails, and other special programming to light up the night.
