In this new ambitious work, Kait evokes the experience of swimming through a glass kelp forest. The installation will be an abstraction of kelp in form and color, a representation of a system of growth.
Words of appreciation for kelp, solicited from the public, will be incorporated into the Proto Kelp sculpture, permanently engraved onto the glass tubes comprising the sculpture. Viewers can read this publicly generated poetry as “ode to kelp” along the many branches of the installation, creating an experiential poetry.
The exhibition runs Saturday August 24th through Saturday October 20th, and is viewable 12-4pm on Fridays (by appointment) and on Saturdays 12-4pm (no appointment needed).
