Join us in watching a flameworking collaborative demo between Kimberly Thomas and the Students of the 3D4M program here at the Linda and Jerry Paros Glass Laboratory at the University of Washington School of Art, Art History, and Design.
Kimberly Thomas is a biracial interdisciplinary sculptor and flameworker currently a Resident Artist at Penland School of Craft. She is known for her work’s intentionally flawed and unusual motifs as well as her intricate sculptural inventions. Thomas’s work is often autobiographical and conveys her unique perception of the world. Drawing her influence from concepts, questions, and theories about human nature, she combines realism and fantasy. She imparts her truth into dark, yet entertaining, narratives.
3D4M Students have the unique opportunity to explore and major in an Interdisciplinary degree in Glass, Ceramics, and Sculpture. Each student brings their unique style and interest into their Artwork. Come see what will be created in this multifaceted art collaboration.
The Linda and Jerry Paros Glass Laboratory finished renovations last year to create a new 14 station. Flameworking studio as part of the Arts Capital Campaign to renovate the Art Building on UW’s Main Campus.
