Artist Talk and Closing Reception with Kait Rhoads

Please join artist Kait Rhoads at METHOD Gallery where she will discuss Proto Kelp, her immersive and participatory glass installation 2-3pm and Closing Reception 3-4pm. In this new ambitious work, Kait evokes the experience of swimming through a glass kelp forest. The installation will be an abstraction of kelp in form and color. Her sculpture promotes the knowledge the aquatic environment and interconnection between species. Community sourced words of appreciation for life-sustaining kelp are incorporated into the Proto Kelp installation, permanently engraved onto the glass tubes comprising the sculpture. Viewers can read this publicly generated poetry as “ode to kelp” along the many branches of the installation, creating an experiential poetry. The exhibition runs Saturday August 24th through Saturday October 20th, and is viewable 12-4pm on Fridays (by appointment) and on Saturdays 12-4pm (no appointment needed).
